ABOUT ME

Janet Binette was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. She received her Bachelors in English from Boston University. She originally pursued Psychology but her love for poetry and reading took over. Janet went on to become an English teacher for children, predominantly teenagers. Beyond her work, Janet has always loved poetry and taking care of animals. Since she was just a small girl, Janet loved and adored all animals. She firmly believed that all creatures both big and small mattered. This belief clearly has carried with her her entire life. Janet's love for animals pivoted her into activism. Janet has a long history in activism and protesting for human rights, animal rights, environmental change and more. Janet started protesting for animal rights when she was a child and currently still does to this day. She is a proud animal activist!

Janet retired from teaching in 2012. In 2018, Janet wanted to work again but wasn't sure if she wanted to go back to teaching. Her daughter suggested she try dog walking and dog/cat sitting. Janet decided not only would this be a good fit for her, since she could make her own schedule but she also loved dogs. Since 2018, Janet has been more than just a dog walker, but a friend, a caregiver and a lap to rest on to multiple dogs and cats throughout Buffalo and most recently in Southern California where she now resides with her daughter. Her experiences with furry friends as well as her own animals has brought her back full circle to one of her biggest passions and loves, poetry. Her poetry books not only dare the reader to dive into her world and realize her work is more than just being a dog walker or cat sitter, but consists of being a true companion and confidant to these sweet beings and the grief and joy that comes with it.
